After many years of study, Dr. Wakily began practicing as a surgeon in 2008. Her extensive medical knowledge combined with an ongoing curiosity to learn about the latest trends defines her success in the medical field.
Dr. Wakily completed her General Surgery residency training at Stony Brook University Hospital in Long Island, NY. She then completed her training in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery in Boston at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a Harvard affiliated teaching hospital.
Dr. Wakily had a private practice in Manhattan at Lenox Hill and Mount Sinai hospital before moving back to Boston to join the Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians group as an academic surgeon for Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. The beautiful weather finally brought Dr. Wakily back to California where she is originally from.
Dr. Wakily’s areas of practice include general surgery, minimally invasive surgery for weight loss, hernia repair, colon and rectal surgery. She is certified in both laparoscopic surgery as well as DaVinci Robotic surgery.
She was recently awarded “Top Doctor 2019 in General and Breast Surgery” and continues to be involved in academics through committees and leadership positions as an editor of Surgical Endoscopy and reviewer of the Journal of Surgical Research.
