Dr. Abid Christopher Mogannam, MD, MBA, FACS, is a board-certified vascular surgeon with extensive experience treating patients across the spectrum of vascular diseases. He provides both open and minimally invasive endovascular procedures to address arterial and venous conditions, with clinical practices located in San Leandro and San Ramon, California, as part of the Vascular Surgery Medical Group.
Dr. Mogannam completed his undergraduate studies at Santa Clara University, graduating cum laude with a major in Combined Sciences and a minor in Spanish. During his time there, he conducted research on cellular membranes, publishing his findings in the Journal of Chemical Education. He subsequently earned his medical degree from the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine. Concurrently, he obtained an MBA from UC Irvine’s Paul Merage School of Business, focusing on healthcare policy and economics.
His post-graduate training included a General Surgery Residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center, where he contributed to clinical research with publications in JAMA Surgery and Annals of Vascular Surgery. These works highlighted anterior retroperitoneal spine exposure and major vascular reconstruction in oncologic settings. Dr. Mogannam went on to complete a fellowship in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at the University of California, San Diego, where he trained in cutting-edge endovascular techniques. During his fellowship, he published a multi-institutional review on endoleak treatment in the Journal of Vascular Surgery and presented his findings at both regional and national conferences.
Currently, Dr. Mogannam serves as a councilor for the Alameda-Contra Costa Medical Association and is a member of the Sutter Health Cardiovascular Service Line. His professional affiliations include the Society for Vascular Surgery, the American College of Surgeons, where he is a Fellow, and the Western Vascular Surgical Society. He holds certifications from the American Board of Surgery in both General and Vascular Surgery.
Dr. Mogannam is fluent in Spanish and is committed to developing individualized treatment plans tailored to optimize patient outcomes.
