Dr. Pereira is board-certified in surgery, surgery of the hand, and plastic surgery. He is a professor of surgery at the University of California, Davis Medical Center’s Division of Plastic Surgery/Hand Surgery and previously was an affiliate assistant professor of plastic surgery at Stanford Medical Center and an attending physician at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. He is able to evaluate any trauma to the hand as well as peripheral nerve injuries that occur to any extremity as a result of motor vehicle accidents, falls, and industrial or agricultural crush injuries. Dr. Pereira’s research at UC Davis involves looking at novel surgical techniques to improve function after these devastating injuries. He can evaluate burn injuries and reconstructions, as well as scars from any cause, anywhere on the body. He also works with brachial plexus injuries, neuromas, and lower extremity free flap reconstructions and can opine on these types of cases as well. He is the author of numerous articles and book chapters and has presented at medical conferences throughout the United States and in Europe. He has received multiple awards and honors, including from the Mayo Clinic Microsurgery Reconstructive Course. He is a member of the American Society for Peripheral Nerve and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. Dr. Pereira completed his residencies in general surgery and plastic surgery, as well as a fellowship in hand and microsurgery, at the University of California, Los Angeles. He has an FRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of both England and Edinburgh (UK), and received his medical degree from M.S. University in Baroda, India.
