Ho Ying Chu, PsyD, LCSW

Dr. Ho Ying Chu is a licensed Clinical and Forensic Psychologist and Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She conducts independent forensic and medical-legal evaluations in cases involving catastrophic injuries, traumatic brain injuries, neurological disorders, severe mental disorders, personality pathology, and complex psychiatric and medical comorbidities. She is fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.

Dr. Chu earned her Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and completed the USC/UCEDD APA Internship Didactics at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). Dr. Chu has over 10 years of post-doctoral clinical and forensic experience, focusing on personal injury and workers’ compensation cases. She completed advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) at Harbor–UCLA Medical Center. Her areas of expertise include comprehensive psychological and neuropsychological evaluations, participating in complex depositions, and providing expert forensic consultation.

Dr. Chu completed a three-year medical psychology residency at Ibemed/Healthpointe Medical Clinics, where she specialized in the treatment of traumatic brain injury (TBI), chronic pain, and related psychological sequelae. She has served as a guest lecturer for the Counseling and School Psychology Graduate Program at the University of Massachusetts Boston. Dr. Chu is in the process of obtaining her Brain Injury Specialist Certification through the Brain Injury Association of America, having fulfilled all required training and clinical hours. 

Dr. Chu’s work is grounded in a medical psychology framework that integrates psychological science with established medical methodology in the assessment of complex psychiatric, neurological, and injury-related conditions. Her evaluations emphasize diagnostic formulation, analysis of functional impairment, and objective clinical reasoning within clinical and medical-legal contexts.
