Danny Lascano, MD, QME

Dr. Danny Lascano is a board-certified general surgeon practicing in California’s Central Valley. His clinical practice encompasses the full spectrum of general surgery, including hernias (inguinal, ventral, incisional), gallbladder and biliary disease, colorectal, intra-abdominal and soft tissue infections, and emergency abdominal surgery.

Dr. Lascano earned a B.A. in Biology from Swarthmore College and an M.D. from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed his general surgery residency at Westchester Medical Center / New York Medical College, a Level I trauma center, where he performed more than 1,100 major operations and served as Clinical Instructor of Surgery in his final year. During residency, he completed a two-year research fellowship in pediatric surgical oncology at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. He then finished his clinical training with a Complex General Surgical Oncology fellowship at Saint John’s Cancer Institute in Santa Monica, performing more than 200 major oncologic operations.

He has authored or co-authored more than 30 peer-reviewed manuscripts in journals including Scientific Reports, JAMA Surgery, and Annals of Surgery Open. He serves as a peer reviewer for the British Journal of Surgery and the Journal of Investigative Surgery. His research has been supported by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and the National Institutes of Health. He received First Place in the Ferdinand C. Valentine Essay Contest of the New York State Section of the American Urological Association for work examining whether commercial hospital rankings predict surgical outcomes.

Dr. Lascano maintains an active acute care surgery practice, treating patients at community hospitals throughout California’s Central Valley alongside his primary practice in Fresno. He is board-certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery (2023) and holds an active California medical license. He is fluent in English and Spanish with native proficiency, which he uses directly in clinical surgical practice and in conducting medical-legal evaluations with Spanish-speaking claimants.
