Dr. Christopher Scott Granda, D.O., M.S., M.P.H. is a board-certified physician in both Occupational Medicine and General Preventive Medicine & Public Health, with extensive experience in military, academic, and civilian medical systems. He currently serves as an Associate Physician Diplomate at the University of California, San Diego’s Center for Occupational and Environmental Medicine, where he practices full-scope occupational medicine including California Workers’ Compensation evaluations, disability rating, employee health, and fit-for-duty examinations.
Dr. Granda earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, followed by a Master of Public Health in Environmental Health from San Diego State University and a Master of Science in Medical Pharmacology from the University of South Florida. He completed his residency in General Preventive Medicine at UC San Diego and holds multiple specialty certifications including FAA Aviation Medical Examiner, DOT Certified Medical Examiner, and Medical Examiner of Divers.
He is a former U.S. Navy Preventive Medicine Officer, having served as Department Head for the Threat Assessment Division at the Navy Environmental & Preventive Medicine Unit FIVE. In this role, he oversaw disease surveillance operations across the Pacific fleet, managed high- complexity laboratory services, and led health promotion and emergency response initiatives for military populations worldwide. He also served as Battalion Surgeon for Naval Mobile Construction Battalion One and as Deputy Task Force Surgeon for Combined Task Force 68, covering multiple global regions including EUCOM, AFRICOM, CENTCOM, and SOCOM.
Dr. Granda’s academic roles have included Assistant Professor at the Uniformed Services University, where he was a subject matter expert in trauma and emergency medicine, and Voluntary Clinical Instructor at the UC San Diego School of Public Health. He has presented widely on occupational and environmental health topics, including infectious disease response, undersea and wilderness medicine, audiogram interpretation, and vaccine hesitancy.
In addition to his clinical and teaching work, Dr. Granda serves as a physician peer reviewer for American Analytical Administrative Services, providing expert opinions on disability and occupational health claims. He is affiliated with the American College of Preventive Medicine, the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, and the Wilderness Medical Society.
