Dr. David C. Lorentzen is a California-licensed psychologist (PSY 23226) with more than 15 years of clinical and psychological assessment experience. He is also a certified Qualified Medical Evaluator authorized by the California Division of Workers’ Compensation Medical Unit to conduct neutral medical-legal psychological evaluations. His assessment experience includes psychoeducational and diagnostic evaluations for children and adults, including assessment of cognitive functioning, academic achievement, diagnostic clarification, and accommodation needs in educational and workplace settings.

Since January 2020, Dr. Lorentzen has served as Co-Founder and Psychologist at Equip Psychological Corporation in Pasadena, California. He co-founded the group psychotherapy practice with a focus on the mental health of men and boys. His work includes psychotherapy, psychoeducational and diagnostic assessment, and clinical supervision of post-doctoral and associate-level therapists. He has also maintained a private psychology practice in Pasadena since December 2009, providing psychotherapy and assessment services to adults, children, adolescents, and families, as well as group therapy for children and teenagers.

Dr. Lorentzen earned his Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University in 2008. He received his Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from the same institution in 2006 and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2003. His doctoral research examined common psychological interventions for chronic pain, with particular emphasis on treatment and management approaches for individuals with severe mental illness.

His earlier clinical experience includes work in private practice, community mental health, acute behavioral health, and child-focused settings. He completed predoctoral internships at the Glen Roberts Child Study Center and Verdugo Mental Health Center and provided inpatient group therapy at BHC Alhambra Hospital. He also worked with severely emotionally disturbed children and adolescents at Enki Health and Research Systems and co-led social skills groups through the BLAST Social Skills Program.

Dr. Lorentzen holds additional training in clinical biofeedback and crisis prevention and intervention. He is a member of the San Gabriel Valley Psychological Association, Los Angeles County Psychological Association, and California Psychological Association.
