Dr. Diana S. Avalle is a licensed psychologist in California (PSY31727) who specializes in clinical and forensic psychology. Her areas of expertise include forensic evaluations, and trauma-focused therapy. She earned two bachelor’s degrees at California State University, Long Beach in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and Human Development and later.-earned her Psy.D. in Clinical Forensic Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2018.

She completed her Pre and Post- Doctoral Internships at the Institute on Violence, Abuse, and Trauma (IVAT) and made her way up to serve as the Director of Forensic Training for IVAT. Currently, she contracts with IVAT and her work includes providing trauma-focused therapy to the community, providing clinical supervision and training. and conducting forensic evaluations for family, civil, and criminal courts nationally.

Dr. Avalle’s other leadership experience includes her time as the Program Director for the Forensic Community Treatment Program (FCT) at Gateways Hospital within the

L.A. County Conditional Release Program (CONREP). She oversaw clinical decision-making with a focus on assessing and mitigating risk of dangerousness, facilitated treatment team meetings and clinical supervision, guided treatment planning and supervision needs, and wrote, reviewed, and edited court reports. She also provided verbal and written testimony, ensured compliance with Department of State Hospital and Penal Code requirements, and provided administrative, clinical, and fiscal oversight.

Finally, Dr. Avalle also has experience as a professor for graduate level programs at Pepperdine University, National University, and The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Further, she is also a published author in the field of intimate partner violence and child custody evaluations.
