Dr Irina V. Williams, MD, MHA is a Double Board-Certified Anesthesiologist, Pain Management Specialist and an accomplished Healthcare leader. Dr Williams completed her Anesthesiology training at Wayne State University, Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI. She then completed Interventional Pain Management Fellowship at the University of California San Francisco. Dr Williams clinical expertise includes treatment of various spine disorders, musculoskeletal pain, neuropathic pain, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), fibromyalgia, chronic pain after a traumatic injury, refractory pain conditions, chronic pain in the setting of substance use disorders, various interventional procedures for chronic pain including fluoroscopy and ultrasound guided.
In addition to clinical practice, Dr Williams has extensive experience in healthcare leadership and policy, including medical staff, employer and human resources relations; healthcare provider professionalism and wellbeing; as well as impaired physicians support. Dr Williams built, and developed, an Interdisciplinary chronic pain management service within Alameda Health System in Oakland, CA. During the COVID pandemic, Dr Williams actively participated in the launch of telemedicine services within Alameda Health System. In addition, she was elected as a Chief of Alameda Health System Medical Staff and was appointed as Ambulatory Specialty Physician Lead working as a dyad partner with the Chief Ambulatory Officer.
Dr Williams has led medical staff and system level policy development and revision, including medical staff bylaws. She has chaired multiple committees including Medical Executive Committee, Ambulatory Specialty Operations committee, Credentials committee and Professional Standards Committee. Dr Williams obtained Master’s in healthcare administration degree (MHA) from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY. She has completed numerous physician leadership courses with additional training in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
