Dr. Johand Rodríguez-Fernandez is a bilingual (Spanish/English) Clinical Psychologist licensed in California, Michigan, Virginia, Florida, and Puerto Rico. He brings over a decade of experience in mental health, specializing in psychological assessment, trauma-informed care, and culturally responsive treatment for diverse populations in both inpatient and outpatient settings across the different states he is licensed in.
Dr. Rodríguez-Fernandez earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Mental Health from the University of Puerto Rico and completed his Master of Science and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) with distinction at Albizu University in San Juan, PR (APA Approved).
Throughout his career, Dr. Rodríguez-Fernandez has provided individual, group, family, and couples psychotherapy, as well as comprehensive psychological and neurocognitive assessments. He has significant experience working with individuals presenting with a wide range of mental health concerns and coming from different cultural backgrounds (both in English and Spanish) including psychological trauma, mood disorders, neurodevelopmental conditions, substance use, and co-occurring disorders. He is proficient in crisis intervention, suicide risk assessment and management, and autism diagnostic evaluations for adults.
Dr. Rodríguez-Fernandez has served as a Travel Psychologist, conducting Compensation and Pension (C&P) evaluations for Veterans across the United States, and provides virtual autism diagnostic evaluations for adults. He maintains an active telehealth-based private practice, where he has supervised clinicians and graduate trainees, and regularly delivers workshops and training sessions for educational and professional audiences.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Rodríguez-Fernandez is an experienced educator, having taught graduate and undergraduate psychology courses and developed curriculum and course content for academic programs. He has also contributed to multiple national clinical trials as a clinical rater and sub-investigator, with research expertise in mood disorders, schizophrenia, neurocognitive disorders, psychological trauma, and substance use.
