Dr. Joseph Yadegar is a distinguished surgeon with over five decades of experience in general and gastrointestinal surgery. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) and the American College of Surgeons (FACS), with board certification from the American Board of Surgery since 1981, most recently recertified in 2024.
Dr. Yadegar completed his medical education at the University of London, with pre-clinical studies at King’s College and clinical training at Westminster Medical School. His extensive postgraduate training includes residency at Wadsworth VA/UCLA Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident in Surgery. He has held numerous leadership positions, including Clinical Chief of the Division of General Surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he has been an attending surgeon since 1981.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Yadegar has contributed significantly to academic surgery, serving as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Tehran and as a Clinical Lecturer at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). His research and publications in peer-reviewed journals focus on gastrointestinal surgery, preoperative irradiation, and novel surgical techniques.
Dr. Yadegar is also an experienced Qualified Medical Examiner (QME), bringing his expertise to forensic evaluations and expert witness testimony. He has been recognized for his contributions to surgical education and research, including awards and invited lectures at leading surgical conferences.
Currently, Dr. Yadegar holds hospital appointments at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and serves as the Medical Director at Rexford Operating Rooms, Inc. in Beverly Hills. He remains dedicated to advancing surgical excellence through clinical practice, teaching, and medicolegal consulting.
