Dr. Akopian-Beasley is a licensed psychologist in California and Alaska with a dual-track Doctorate (Psy.D.) in Clinical Forensic Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She specializes in forensic psychological assessment and has authored nearly 1,000 competency reports and provided expert witness testimony in over 75 cases across legal proceedings. Her evaluations are consistently relied upon by the courts for their diagnostic clarity, evidentiary precision, and practical utility in judicial decision-making.
Recognized as an expert in forensic psychology, Dr. Akopian-Beasley has conducted hundreds of competency to stand trial evaluations and is deeply experienced in addressing and evaluating complex psychiatric presentations in legal contexts. She played a pivotal role in developing and implementing jail-based competency restoration services in Kern County, including the 2018 launch of a forensic treatment program within a correctional setting and the 2023 rollout of an Incompetent to Stand Trial (IST) focused inpatient facility model.
In addition to her forensic practice, Dr. Akopian-Beasley is committed to the advancement of clinical training and psychological education.
