Matthew Steiner, M.D., Q.M.E., is the founder and director of Expedient Medicolegal Services. Dr. Steiner has a broad forensic background serving as both an expert witness and a treating psychiatrist in a wide range of medicolegal cases in Orange, Los Angeles, and San Luis Obispo counties. Dr. Steiner has worked statewide giving testimony in Writ, Riese, and conservatorship hearings in addition to testifying in 1370, 2962, 2972 and SVP cases in San Luis Obispo County. Dr. Steiner also brings his extensive experience in objectively evaluating hundreds of workers’ compensation claims as a sought after Qualified and Agreed Medical Evaluator.
Dr. Steiner is dual board certified in Adult Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and in Addiction Medicine by the American Board of Addiction Medicine. He is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Rutgers University, where he completed a Henry Rutgers Thesis in the field of Health Psychology. He received his degree in Medicine from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and went on to serve as Chief Resident at the University of California Irvine during his Adult Psychiatry Residency. Dr. Steiner is published in the fields of Health Psychology, Immunology, and Addiction Psychiatry. He completed the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Program at the New Center for Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles, rounding out his wide range of interests in the field of mental health.
After residency, Dr. Steiner developed and privately established an innovative telehealth services outreach model, bringing treatment to various underserved populations in Northern California. He remains a steadfast advocate of telehealth as a means to reach underserved populations. Dr. Steiner also maintains a traditional clinical and specialty telepsychiatry practice, providing comprehensive treatment for a variety of mental conditions.
