Sepehr Nowfar, M.DD, FACS, M.Ph, Q.M.E., completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California, Berkeley, where he graduated with honors in Molecular and Cellular Biology. He then attended Tulane University Medical School in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he received his Doctor of Medicine and Master of Public Health degrees simultaneously.
Dr. Nowfar returned to California to complete his urology and general surgery residencies at UC San Diego. He joined West Coast Urology in 2011. In his current practice, he focuses on advanced robotic and stone surgery, oncology, and tertiary referrals. He has an in-depth knowledge of urinary and sexual dysfunction, including psychogenic causes of dysfunction.
Dr Nowfar is board certified by the American Board of Urology and serves in many areas of physician leadership. He is Medical Director for Optum-Surgical Care Associates, Expert Medical Reviewer and Utilization Reviewer for multiple medical groups, Medical Executive Board Member, and Medical Credentialing Member. He is a former Clinical Assistant Professor of Urology at UCLA’s David Geffen School of Medicine.
Dr. Nowfar brings an extensive background in general urology combined with specialized training in urologic surgical oncology and advanced endoscopic, laparoscopic, and robotic surgery. He was instrumental in the development of the robotics programs at Lakewood Regional Medical Center and Los Alamitos Medical Center. He started “meshless” surgery for female incontinence. He also brings special expertise in men’s health and management of Peyronie’s disease with new, innovative, and minimally invasive techniques.
