Sharon Chernoff, Ph.D., Q.M.E.

Sharon Chernoff, Ph.D., QME is a clinical and forensic psychologist licensed in both California (PSY 27732) and Arizona (3494).  Her forensic practice includes workers’ compensation evaluations as a QME (143298), and serving as a consultant and expert witness in civil litigation.  Dr. Chernoff received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology in San Diego in the spring of 2000.  Following graduation, she completed a fellowship at the University of California, San Diego Medical Center in the Department of Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Medicine. 

During her fellowship, Dr. Chernoff performed psychological assessments of chronic pain patients, neuropsychological assessments of heart, kidney, and liver transplant candidates, and also assessments of living-related liver donors.  In addition to training in assessment, she trained with therapy populations in outpatient settings such as Scripps Clinic, Division of Mental Health in La Jolla, and Children’s Hospital of San Diego. 

After her fellowship, Dr. Chernoff spent ten years in private practice in Arizona providing outpatient assessment and therapy.  Her focus was health psychology with an emphasis on populations with chronic pain.  She worked with a number of patients with chronic pain through the Arizona workers’ compensation system.  She also served patients referred from the Mayo Clinic of Scottsdale for outpatient treatment and performed numerous psychological evaluations for neurostimulator implants.  Dr. Chernoff performed over 300 psychological evaluations for gastric bypass surgery candidates and provided therapeutic support to this population.  She also has experience with patients suffering post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety, pregnancy and postpartum mood disorders, and infertility related issues.

Dr. Chernoff is glad to be back in California and performing forensic work.  She takes pride in serving as an objective evaluator with a balanced and pragmatic perspective.
