Dr. Shelley Maithel is a board-certified vascular and general surgeon with extensive training and experience in the field. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry and Economics from Dartmouth College before obtaining her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Maithel completed her general surgery residency at UC Irvine, which included a dedicated research year in vascular surgery. She then went on to complete a fellowship in vascular surgery at the University of Southern California.
A highly regarded clinician and researcher, Dr. Maithel has authored numerous publications in the fields of vascular and trauma surgery and has presented her research at national conferences. She currently practices in multiple locations throughout the Tri-Valley region of Northern California, providing comprehensive open and endovascular surgical care to a broad range of patients. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Maithel serves as surgical faculty in the General Surgery Residency Program at San Joaquin General Hospital.
Dr. Maithel’s practice encompasses all aspects of vascular surgery, with a particular focus on peripheral arterial disease and limb salvage, as well as advanced aortic disease. She is passionate about serving underserved patient populations and believes that enhancing patient education and health literacy are essential for improving patient satisfaction and achieving better overall outcomes.
