Dr. Vahe Akopian, MD, is a board-certified neurologist and the founder and CFO of
Axon Neurology, a multi-neurologist clinic based in Glendale, CA. He has a robust
private practice, managing approximately 150 patients weekly. Dr. Akopian completed
his undergraduate studies at UCLA, majoring in Physiological Sciences and minoring in
Armenian Studies. He earned his medical degree from St. George’s University, followed
by an internship in Internal Medicine at Lincoln Medical Center, and a Neurology
residency at Keck USC, where he also completed a fellowship in Intra-Operative
Neuromonitoring (IONM).
Throughout his career, Dr. Akopian has been recognized for his contributions to
neurology, receiving the Young Investigator Award for his research in IONM. His clinical
expertise includes treating conditions such as headaches, numbness, back pain,
memory loss, Parkinson’s disease, seizures, and sleep disorders. Dr. Akopian is fluent
in Spanish and Armenian, and is dedicated to re-establishing himself in Los Angeles,
giving back to the community where he grew up.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Akopian has contributed to medical literature,
particularly in the fields of IONM and stroke. His leadership roles include serving on the
EHR Physician Advisory Committee and the Credentialing Committee at USC Verdugo
Hills Hospital. Dr. Akopian has also engaged in consulting work for medical startup
device companies and has a history of service in underserved hospitals in Los Angeles,
New York, and Oakland.
