Mir E. Ali, M.D.

Dr. Mir E. Ali is a board-certified pain management and anesthesiology physician with over two decades of experience in interventional pain medicine, anesthesiology, and spine-related care. He currently serves as an Attending Anesthesiologist in Walnut Creek, CA and also served as an Attending Pain Management Physician at Golden State Orthopedics & Spine, where he directed the Peripheral Nerve and Spinal Cord Stimulation Program.

Since 2006, Dr. Ali has been an Attending Anesthesiologist with the Department of Anesthesiology at John Muir Health through Vituity Healthcare and the Medical Anesthesia Consultants Medical Group. From 2014 to 2022, he served as Director of Pain Management Services at John Muir Health’s Walnut Creek and Concord Medical Centers, where he developed and implemented a comprehensive pain management service line and cross-campus quality initiatives.

Dr. Ali completed his Pain Management Fellowship at Stanford University in 2006, following an Anesthesiology Residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He also held a faculty appointment at the University of California, San Francisco, in the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Care. Prior to his training in anesthesiology, Dr. Ali gained clinical experience as a spine surgery physician at Kaiser Oakland Medical Center and as a surgical resident at UCSF–East Bay.

An active contributor to research and medical education, Dr. Ali has authored publications in The Journal of Pain & Palliative Care Pharmacotherapy, Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, and Anesthesiology News. His scholarly work includes award-winning studies in anesthesia and pain medicine, with a focus on opioid-sparing treatment pathways, regional anesthesia techniques, and procedural innovation.

Dr. Ali is board-certified in Pain Medicine and Anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology and holds active medical licensure in the State of California.
