Dr. Troy Matthew LaMar is a California-licensed general surgeon and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) with decades of surgical training and clinical practice. He is licensed by the State of California (G77568, 07/1993–present) and is certified by the American Board of Surgery (02/1998), with recertifications in 02/2007, 02/2018, 02/2020, and 02/2022. His additional training includes a Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass Course at Stanford University (03/2000) and a Chronic Venous Insufficiency Treatment Course (09/13/2024).
Dr. LaMar completed his General Surgery internship at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, California (07/1992–06/1993), followed by a General Surgery residency at Huntington Memorial Hospital (07/1993–06/1997). He earned his M.D. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison (08/1988–05/1992). Prior to medical school, he completed a B.S. in Psychology at the University of Southern California (08/1982–05/1988) and completed graduate studies in Counseling Psychology at the University of Southern California (08/1987–05/1988). He attended Madison West High School in Madison, Wisconsin (08/1978–06/1982).
In practice, Dr. LaMar has led Troy LaMar, M.D. Surgical Practice (Private Practice, 07/2015–present) and is active on the Adventist Health Physicians Network Medical Staff (04/20/2025–present) in Glendale, California. He previously practiced with California Bariatric & General Surgical Practice / Surgery Associates (11/2005–06/2015), Comprehensive Surgical Specialists Surgical Practice (07/1998–10/2005), and Gallatin Medical Foundation Surgical Practice (07/1997–06/1998).
His hospital affiliations include Methodist Hospital Medical Staff (Active 07/1998–present) and Huntington Memorial Hospital Medical/Teaching Staff (Active 07/1998–present), as well as Specialty Surgical Center Medical Staff (Active 11/2005–present). He is also active on the medical staff at Glendale Adventist Hospital (Active 03/2025–present) and San Gabriel Valley Medical Center (Active 03/2025–present).
